Identity, email banners for 2010 NCSU design symposium. The team was interested in exploring authenticity through transparency of design methods. How might designers and communities understand, produce and find what is authentic, whether that takes the form of an experience, artifact, or method of making? Might authenticity be found in a transparent design process resulting in an artifact or system? Could we re-imagine a design method that privileges the spontaneous and evolutionary over the strategic and planned? How might we rethink ‘given’ artifacts to make them our own?
